Celebrating a Birthday
Birthday reward points automatically granted on members' birthdays to enhance emotional connection, encourage birthday month purchases, and improve long-term customer retention as a key loyalty program feature
Feature Overview
The "Celebrate a Birthday" rule allows customers to receive a one-time points reward on their birthday.
This feature helps you:
- Build emotional connections with members
- Encourage birthday-month purchases
- Improve long-term customer retention
Birthday rewards are designed as emotional incentives within your loyalty program.
How It Works
- Points are issued on the customer’s birthday
- Each customer can receive the birthday reward once per year
- Only one birthday earning rule can be created
- Applies to all members, regardless of VIP level
Setup Path
Method 1: Create with AI Sidekick (Loyalty AI)

- Click Loyalty AI in the bottom-right corner of any page in the App to open the AI chat panel
- Enter a command in the input box, for example:
“Create a birthday points reward.”
- The AI will automatically understand your request and generate a corresponding birthday points earning rule based on your store’s context
- Click the Preview & Edit button
- The system will automatically navigate to and pre-fill the Celebrate a birthday rule configuration page
- Review and adjust the settings as needed, then click Save to activate the rule
Method 2: Create Manually

- Go to the App and click Points in the left-hand menu
- Switch to the Points Rules tab
- In the Ways to earn section, click Add Ways to earn
- Select Celebrate a birthday from the modal
- Complete the rule configuration and save your changes
Configuration Details
1. Action Name
- Displayed on the Rewards Panel and Loyalty Page
- Recommended examples:
Birthday rewardHappy Birthday! Earn bonus points
2. Earning Value
- Points granted on the customer’s birthday
- Positive integers only (e.g. 100, 150, 200)
Tip:
- Set a higher value than regular actions to highlight its importance
3. Status
- Active: Rule is visible and active
- Disabled: Rule is hidden and inactive
4. Icon
- Default icons provided
- Custom upload:
- 1:1 ratio
- ≤ 50KB
- Supported formats: png, jpg, jpeg, svg, gif, webp
How Customers Add Their Birthday
Customers must provide their birthday in advance to receive rewards.
Supported entry points:

- After logging in, consumers can fill in or modify their birthday in the points panel

Once submitted, the birthday is linked to the customer’s account.
Frontend Display
When enabled:
- The birthday rule appears on the Rewards Panel and Loyalty Page
- Customers without a birthday set will be prompted to add one
💡 Important Notes
1. 30-Day Advance Requirement
- Birthdays must be added at least 30 days in advance to qualify
Example:
- Today: Oct 20, 2025
- Birthday on Oct 25 → ❌ Not eligible this year
- Birthday on Nov 25 → ✅ Eligible
2. Once Per Year(365 days)
To prevent abuse through frequent birthday changes, birthday rewards follow a 365-day limitation rule:
- Each customer can receive a birthday reward once within any 365-day period
- The system uses the last successful birthday reward date as the reference point
- Changing the birthday does not reset or bypass the 365-day limit
Examples
Example 1: Standard case
- Birthday: October 25
- 2025-10-25: Birthday reward granted
- 2026-10-25: ≥ 365 days passed → ✅ Reward granted
Example 2: Birthday changed but 365 days not met
- Original birthday: October 25
- 2025-10-25: Birthday reward granted
- Birthday changed to: June 25
Reward outcome:
- 2026-06-25: Less than 365 days since last reward → ❌ No reward
- 2027-06-25: More than 365 days passed → ✅ Reward granted
3. No VIP Differentiation
- Birthday rewards are the same for all members
